In the past years, I have often advised my friends who are crestfallen or down to list down ten reasons of how they can grateful for. After, they would feel a sense of release, or the positivity start to show on their faces. Looking back, I have never done this for myself. I feel that it is high time to do such for myself right now. Thus, here are the list of reasons I am grateful for:
1. My job.
Too often, I’d always hear or see rants of individuals about their jobs. I for one have done so many times. Still, I am grateful that I do have a job. I have a paycheck to pay the bills and feed me for a month.
2. The books.
Believe it or not, I have piles of unread book. To quote Edward Cullen, “You are like drug to me.” Well, the book is like a drug to me. The times I pass by the mall, my feet often lead me to the bookstore and I leave with a book or two on my hand. Further, I have hundreds of unread e-books shared by my bookworm friend, Camille.
3. The blog
I started this whole thing out of the challenge brought by my buddy, a person I always look up to, cheshirekatte. From daily writing prompts, until eventually, we read each others posts, and try to accomplish the required daily posts. Too often, she would always post first while I try to catch up.
4. New morning
The alarm clock may get us cranky at times but the idea of a new morning signifies the start of a new day. New hope. A renewed energy from yesterday’s tiring activities both physically, emotionally and/or mentally. Waking up, we are able to have a fresh start on our day to day activities.
5. Tambalan
This duo, Nicole Hyala and Chris Tsuper, are far from hilarious. They were more than that. They were able to inspire and provide life lessons while at the same time infect us with their loud laughter. My mornings won’t always be complete without a few laughs with them.
6. My family
They may not always hear it from me, but they are the ones I would consider in making life and career decisions. I am always grateful that I have their unconditional support in the choices I make.
7. My friends
One thing I can be proud of my friends is that distance does not strain our relationship. The communication in social media does alleviate the effect of distance.
8. That special girl
9. Future travels
I have been to various places locally. But the yearning to travel on farther places is one of my personal goals. The hope that one day I’ll be able to travel this places makes me thankful that I have something I’ll be looking forward to.
10. Life
I feel that nothing encompasses the gift of being able to breath air, be able to move and feel and think and learn and grow and cry and fall and dream and work and just… live.
